Kate Chopin's The Awakening

This site about Kate Chopin's The Awakening displays a sense of humor that "is far enough off center to appeal to...many...high school students."  A collection of seemingly "student-generated" essays discusses "characters, symbolism, and themes, as well as biography and criticism."  Links include "biographies, on-line texts, and other resources," but several links are not accessible.  "This is a fun site that...would appeal to many students and teachers."

Here is a "comprehensive look" at Kate Chopin, written by an undergraduate student at a "level accessible to the average high school student."  Although the site is "unappetizing" to look at, and has no direct teaching resources, it does have a "wonderful period-evoking photo" of the author and a good "workable biography."  Teachers should be aware that the paper includes plot synopses which are "ripe for student plagiarism."
