1 = Poor 2 = Fair 3 = Good 4 = Excellent Illustrated Poetry of Robert Frost
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Olympus/1487/ An excellent site "that will inspire and stimulate students and teachers," this personal
web page has selections of Frost's poetry illustrated with music and photography and appended with brief commentary and/or the critical annotations of experts. Currently, the author has completed work on ten poems
with eight more under construction. Although the site is not heavy in analysis, "English and creative writing teachers, middle to high school, will find it engaging for Frost study as well as for ideas for
student-created projects and or web pages." Overall Rating: 4The Academy of American Poets
http://www.poets.org/LIT/poet/rfrosfst.htm An excellent source of information for teachers and students, this site opens with a charming photo of Frost lecturing from his easy chair. Of particular interest is a
short biography, a bibliography of Frost's poetry and plays and books about him and his work currently available. Related links include electronic texts, some with audio clips; commentary on specific poems; Frost
in Cyberspace, a fascinating exploration of all aspects of his poetry; and an "instructor's guide, a series of thoughtful questions that would help develop an approach to teaching Frost." "Excellent
resource. This is a very valuable site for teachers wanting to start a unit on Frost. It would also be an interesting site for students, especially the Cyberspace link." Overall Rating: 4
A Frost Bouquet: Robert Frost, His Family and the Clifton Waller
http://www.lib.virginia.edu/exhibits/frost/home.html An electronic exhibit of Frost material, this site is divided into six main sections: Frost's work in both English and foreign language translations, photographs
and manuscripts about the Frost family, samples of The Bouquet, a poetry magazine published by Frost's family, samples of family Christmas cards, and sample chapters from several Frost biographies. Because this
site is based on an actual physical collection of materials, much of the contents is not available elsewhere. Students and teachers will find this site a good source of visual information to supplement their
reading of Frost. The site is attractive, easy to navigate and loads quickly despite the number of graphics; in addition, there is a brief listing of links to other Frost sites. Overall Rating: 3
Even Robert Frost Received Rejection Slips
http://www.theatlantic.com/unbound/poetry/frost/frostint.htm
Providing an interesting insight into the life of a writer, this site recounts a 1912 rejection by the Atlantic Monthly of Frost's "vigorous
verse." Links connect students and teachers to RealAudio access to readings by the poet, and to a critical essay of Frost's poetry that teachers may use as a model for advanced students. This site is easy to
navigate and is a good source for underscoring the fact that even successful writers sometimes face rejection. Overall Rating: 3Twentieth Century Poetry in English: Robert Frost
http://www.lit.kobe-u.ac.jp/~hishika/frost.htm "This site provides an accessible introduction to Frost and serves as an effective gateway to
other Frost resources on the Internet. The contents include links to biographical information, many online texts of poems, essays written by several contributors, a bibliography of Frost resources and sound recordings.
The site offers teachers and students a wide variety of information, but no specific classroom support. The site is easily maneuvered, loads quickly and is a good place to start in an exploration of Robert Frost.
Overall Rating: 3The Robert Frost Web Page
http://www.pro-net.co.uk/home/catalyst/RF/rfcover.html
"The Robert Frost Web Site claims to be one of the most complete websites on this well-loved poet." To that end it provides audio of his readings, a
listing of his complete works, and several published interviews with the poet. The formatting allows double frames to be up simultaneously, one containing the text of a poem and the other dedicated to supporting
material. In addition, visitors are given the opportunity to submit questions and/or comments directly to the site. Teachers will find the site valuable in that it offers a wide variety of Frost's poems, including
some difficult to find elsewhere and audio readings of many. Advanced students will find this a good site for research, particularly the published interviews and anecdotes about Frost, the poet. The site is
very utilitarian, heavily text dependent, with only one graphic found on the site. Overall Rating: 3Selected Bibliography of Robert Frost
http://web.lwc.edu/academic/las/english/Frostbib.htm "Purely a bibliography of texts," this site consists of listings of twelve
poetry collections, two other Frost works, six works about Frost and fourteen general criticism collections edited by such notables as Harold Bloom, Lionel Trilling, and James Dickey. "It would be useful to
high school students and teachers when starting research and looking for resources." Overall Rating: 3 |
