Focus on William Saroyan
http://ayf.org/sections/saroyan/index2.html

An excellent site, it "establishes the complexity and ethnicity of William Saroyan, the man and the writer.  This is an important first site and should be viewed before all other sites." It contains a nice biography, Saroyan's account of his early publication, and pieces of his personal correspondence, as well as online texts of a few writings. Teachers will find this a good starting point for a study of Saroyan but will find little additional support. There are no additional resources for students.  The site is attractive, loads quickly and is easily navigated.

William Saroyan
http://www.cilicia.com/armo22_william_saroyan.html

Comprehensive presentation of Saroyan's life and works, this site features three personal essays praising the writer and wishing his work was more widely read, and an extensive list of online texts.  The site examines the angst of displaced ethnic groups, starvation in the Great Depression, and their hopeless despair.  A good site for an interdisciplinary look at the Depression, but teacher direction is a must for students to derive anything worthwhile.  Little teacher or student resources beyond the articles and links to texts.  The site is nicely constructed and easily navigated.

Kalinian:  Saroyan Homepage
http://members.aol.com/kalinian/saroyan.html

Paul Kalinian, the photographer responsible for most of the published photos of William Saroyan, wrote, directed and produced the award-winning documentary film, William Saroyan, The Man, The Writer.  This site is focused primarily on that film; it includes a long list of newspaper articles, most of which are commentaries on the documentary.  Of more immediate interest to teachers and students is the background information of the Saroyan postage stamp and the film pamphlet with photos and narratives on various topics about Saroyan.  No specific lesson plans but several articles are presented in English, French and Armenian.  Students interested in working with authors and famous persons, will find some research resources.  The site is easy to navigate and is a treat to the eye, filled with "fabulous photographs."
