I.  Biography

Raymond Andrews was born in Madison, Georgia on June 6, 1934.  Andrews was shot to death in Athens, Georgia on November 26, 1991.  He was an African-American and a son of sharecroppers.

The first book written by Andrews was Appalachee Red-Dial Press, which started out as a poem, but grew into a novel.  It won the James Baldwin prize for fiction.  Rosibelle Lee Wildcat Tennessee, Baby Sweets, Jesse and Jesus and Cousin Clare, The Last Radio Baby, which is an autobiography, are some of the books he wrote.  Atlanta, Peachtree was written in 1990, which was the last book he wrote.
