Cushing

As a student at North Quincy High School, Elizabeth launched her writing career in the literary magazine, "The Manet."

At the age of 27, in 1944, she wrote her first book, High Tide at Noon, the anchor of the Tide trilogy.  Her writing depicts the lives of lobstering families on the Maine coast and Down East life.  That setting is prevalent in most of her works including the Bennett's Island series.

In addition to Down East works, Elisabeth wrote many young adult novels that were popular from the 1950's to the 1980's.

Elisabeth still writes from her home in Cushing, Maine, which has been the source of her inspiration.
