Corlette Sande - 1953 |

Corlette Sande was born February 9, 1953, in Butte,
Montana. She lived there with her family for eighteen years before moving to Bozeman. There, she attended Montana State University for four years and earned her degree in teaching.
Sande then moved to Billings where she began her job as a second grade teacher. After that, she became a school counselor and did that for nine years.
Sande then married Ken Sande and they now have two children, Megan, who is now nine, and Jeff, who is now 6. About sixteen years ago, Ken and Sande helped organize Peacemaker Ministries. Their
goal was to equip and assist Christians to respond to conflict biblically. Then, in 1991, her husband wrote a book called The Peacemaker, which is a biblical
system for resolving conflict. These peacemaking principles had a powerful effect on her life both personally and professionally. She used these principles of peacemaking to help
many children resolve their personal conflicts. As she watched children as young as six years old take responsibility for their own choices and restore their broken relationships,
she became convinced that simplifying Ken's book was a necessary project. She did so, and published The Young Peacemaker in 1997.
The goal of her writing is not only to help children learn how to resolve their own conflicts in a biblical manner, but to help reduce the number of unnecessary violent acts that children commit toward one another.
This essay was submitted by a student of Steve Gardiner, a teacher at Billings Senior High School in Billings, Montana. |
